About NSC

North Sea Communications AS (NSC) is 100% owned by the TeliaSonera group.
The business was established in 1998, with the single purpose to build and operate a fibre optical cable between Norway and the UK.

Originally, the main business purpose was to build a premium network for transit traffic between Norway/Sweden and the London market, but today the main market is the oil and gas industry.

NSC is the only purely commercial fibre optical cable system in the North Sea region.

The fibre optic cable system runs from Stavanger, Kårstø, via Draupner, Ula, Ekofisk, Valhall and Murdoch, landing at Lowestoft. NSC has further fibre resources into Telehouse1 in London. The cable system has a length of 1,150 km from Kårstø to London. NSC also has a resilient network through Europe between London and Stavanger.

Today the main market focus is the oil and gas industry, the telecom carrier market and the wholesale market.  Especially within the oil and gas industry NSC follows the customers globally when feasible.
